PRASHANT BHUSHAN

Mr. Prashant Bhushan is an Indian Public Interest Lawyer of High Court and Apex Court. He is an advocate on record of Supreme Court who is famous for filing PILs (Public Interest Litigation) in Courts for various social issues. He was born at Prayagraj on 15th Oct. 1956 and is a son of a very famous Senior Advocate of Supreme Court Late Sh. Shanti Bhushan who was also an Ex. Union Law Minister of India. Even the younger brother of Mr. Prashant Bhushan is also a Senior Advocate of Delhi High Court.

Mr. Bhushan was educated at St. Joseph’s High School, Prayagraj. He dropped out of I.I.T. Madras after 1st Semester and briefly attended Princeton University has a degree of Law from Allahabad University. While still a student Bhushan wrote “The case that shook India, a book on the case that set aside Indira Gandhi’s election in 1974.

As a counsel he is a very good lawyer in court. He was offered Judgeship in High Court due to his Capability, but he refused the same and also he is not a designated Senior Counsel as per Advocates Act, as he denied to became a Senior.

He was main lawyer in defending Terrorist “Yakub Abdul Razzaq Menon” and try to protect him from hanging while arguing his case at 3 AM (Night) in Supreme Court.

Mr. Bhushan also argued the famous “Goa Foundation Case” and 2G spectrum case in Supreme Court. He is a very hardworking and an honest lawyer towards his work, very helpful for poor people has a lots of experience in Civil Writ matters.
